Welcome to my home page

I hold a tenured teaching staff position at the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete. I live and work in Chania, Crete.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence from the Paris Descartes University (Paris-V), a Master in Science in the field of Organization and Administration from the Technical University of Crete and a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras.
My PhD thesis was titled "The Agents Systems Engineering Methodology - ASEME" and it included the definition of the Agent Modeling Language (AMOLA). For more information you can visit the ASEME web site.

Check out my new software, the Gorgias-B tool for developing applications under preference-based argumentation. A graphical user interface allows non-expert users to define their decision policies (anyone can do it after following a few minutes tutorials).

Research Interests

My research interests mainly focus in the Agent Technology field and especially in Agent Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE). I am also interested in Model-Driven Engineering (MDE), behavior specification for robotic teams, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), the Semantic Web, and, Artificial Intelligence Applications in the fields of Ambient Intelligence (AmI), Finance, e-commerce, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) and personalized Infomobility services using technologies from the areas of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), Argumentation, Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Hybrid Intelligent Systems, etc.

The image below summarizes the topics of my research. It has been created with wordle.net by using the titles of my publications and the publication venue/journal title. The bigger the size of a word the more times it appears in the titles.

Professional Experience

I have worked as information systems architect, designer and developer, technical manager, project manager and Information Technology and Services consultant.
I have been elected to the IEEE senior member grade, in recognition of my professional standing.
