The co-investigator Professor Athanasios Triantafyllou is the leader of UPATRAS research team which maintains research interests in the area of experimental mechanics of structural materials and structural components, strengthening techniques of RC and other structures based on innovative materials (e.g. FRPs, composites) Innovative experimental techniques for the analysis of the mechanical behavior of structural components under monotonic and cyclic loading, development and production of new materials. The faculty members of UPATRAS research team have over 300 publications, have authored two books and edited 5 other books related to application of FRPs on strengthening of RC structures and development of innovative structural materials. They have co-ordinated and participated as project manager, main researchers or researchers in many national and international projects related to innovative techniques for structural integrity and analysis. They have earned a lot of awards (e.g. Golden Mirko Roš Medal for life’s work in the field of Materials and Engineering Science (2007)).
