The primary investigator Professor Costas Providakis is the leader of TUC_AMEL research team which maintains research interests in the area of structural integrity and durability, structural health monitoring, smart materials, mechanics of solids, damage mechanics, structural analysis and conservation of monuments, structural dynamics and antiseismic analysis of structures, computational mechanics, and optimization. The faculty members of TUC_AMEL research team have over 200 publications, have authored four books and edited 5 other books related to computational mechanics, structural conservation of monuments,  seismic risk and applied structural mechanics. They have co-ordinated and participated as project managers, main researchers or researchers in many national and international projects related to innovative techniques for structural integrity and analysis. A high percentage of the above research projects are financed by private companies that work on construction, structural analysis and production of innovative structural materials and the rest one by the Hellenic General Secretariat of Research and Technology, the EU or other public resources, etc. Five of the recent publications are mentioned indicatively below:

Professor Polychronis Spanos which is involved in TUC_AMEL team as distinguished invited researcher from abroad has more than 300 journal and conference articles and 19 books on safety and performance of structural and mechanical systems with emphasis on nonlinear and probabilistic aspects, and applications to aerospace, power, biomedical, petrochemical, structural, and vehicle engineering. He also serves on the editorial boards of nine journals and he is the Editor-in-Chief, of the International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, and the Managing Co-Editor of the Journal of Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics.
