Research and teaching aiming at the needs

of the European materials industry

My area of research belongs to the applied science and has to do with solving problems that are encountered by polymer processing and composites industries; and with the study and improvement of the properties of materials. In the first category one can think of the effort, e.g., to improve the melt strength of commercial polypropylene by adding long chain branches to the molecular backbone; while in the second belongs the research, e.g., of the morphology of immiscible polymer etc. blends, the mechanism that leads to a specific morphology and the way it affects the properties of the material. Financing and endorsing of these research projects should come directly or indirectly from the industry.

The courses that I teach are centred around the concept “materials”. I teach general courses on material science, material properties, polymers, composites and nano-composites and material recycling methods.
